Thrives on Neglect.
Looks Like Devotion.

Waterwise landscapes designed by Laura Eubanks and built with the Design for Serenity team across Southern California.

“I set the boulders first. Once the bones are right, the plants and rock can do what they do best. The goal is a garden that looks settled from day one and gets better with age.”

What We Do

Services

From the first site visit to annual care, every garden is designed, built, and looked after by Laura and her crew.

  1. Consultations

Laura comes to your place, walks the yard with you, and tells you straight what it needs and where to start.

  2. Landscape Design & Installation

Original waterwise gardens, designed by Laura and built with her DFS crew, centered around her signature succulent tapestries.

  3. Soil, Boulder & Stone

Soil to create movement and undulation, boulders set so they look like they have always been there, with layered stone and quiet water to match.

  4. Lighting & Irrigation

Landscape lighting and efficient drip irrigation, built by Greg to use a fraction of the water a lawn needs.

  5. Ongoing Garden Care

Annual visits that keep mature gardens healthy and getting better with age.

Who We Are

Rooted in Southern California.

Design for Serenity is the work of Laura Eubanks, a UC Master Gardener with more than twenty years of waterwise design behind her. She has installed hundreds of succulent gardens across Southern California, and more than 110,000 gardeners follow her work on YouTube.

It is a family business. Laura runs it with her husband Greg, cofounder, who also builds the irrigation and lighting on most installs, and their daughter Hannah, alongside a small crew of talented designers and installers. Every project gets the same treatment: Laura designs it herself, on site, from the first walk-through to the final layer of rock.

How We Work

Process

  1. Site Visit

It starts on the land. Laura walks the space with you and reads the light, the grade, the drainage, and how you actually live outside.

  2. Design

The plan takes shape: anchor boulders, stone, and a plant palette matched to your site and its water.

  3. Installation

Laura and her crew build it. Stone goes in first, and every plant is placed and adjusted in real time.

  4. Topdressing

The finishing layer of rock that ties the whole garden together.

  5. Ongoing Care

Annual visits to prune, refresh, and edit as the garden matures.
