What You'll Make
A living quilt.
A tapestry is a living quilt. Instead of a thirsty patch of lawn, you get a tight weave of succulents in every color and texture, knit together with rock so there is no bare dirt showing. It sips water instead of guzzling it, it asks almost nothing of you once it is in, and it stays beautiful for years.
This course is the same method Laura has used on hundreds of installs, stripped down to the parts that actually matter. No experience needed. No expensive tools. Just a patch of yard you are tired of looking at and a willingness to get your hands dirty for a weekend.
The Course

Plan It
- Welcome. Before we get our hands dirty, let me show you what we're about to make, and promise you it's a whole lot easier than it looks.
- Choosing Your Location. By the end of this lesson you'll have picked the right spot, understood your own little patch of sky, and cleared it so it's ready to plant.
- Plants & Materials. You'll know exactly what to buy, how much of it, where to get it, and what it's going to cost. No guesswork at the nursery.
Lay the Groundwork
- Soil & Mounding. Build the soft, undulating mounds that make a tapestry come alive, without breaking your back on that rock-hard California dirt.
- Staging Boulders. Set your boulders so they look like they've been sitting there since long before your house was ever built.
Plant It
- Foundation Plants. Place the big anchor plants you picked out, the ones everything else gets woven around.
- Sinking Your Plants. Get those staged plants into the ground, fast, and without babying them.
- The Succulent Tapestry. This is the heart of it. We weave your plants and rubble into a living quilt of color, texture, and movement.
Finish & Care
- Topdressing. We finish the garden with rock, the step that ties it all together and earns the wow.
- Care & Maintenance. You did it! Now let me show you how little it takes to keep your tapestry thriving.
Here's What You'll Need
Not much.
A patch of yard (about 100 square feet is perfect for a first tapestry), a weekend, and roughly $500 in plants and materials. That's it. No special tools, no prior experience, no green thumb required. Lesson 3 walks you through the full shopping list before you spend a dime.
